Enhances knowledge of the various types of billing options available, health insurance industry practices and requirements, basic terms of the billing industry and the billing process, including basic insurance coding and filing of claims (MCU, 2023). |
SOSC 2050 - Ethics and the Law: Introduction to ethical considerations that govern and influence the Midwives Model of Care™ and the practice of midwifery. Learning and exploring four broad areas of considerations in midwifery care: 1) Professional ethics in midwifery; 2) Ethics in clientele selection and service; 3) The ethics of privacy and confidentiality; and 4) State/Province legislation, regulation, and the ethics of “choice" (MCU, 2023).

MDWF 3010: Complications of the Prenatal Period: provides advanced knowledge and understanding of midwifery management of complications that may arise during the antepartum period. Assigned readings and additional professional-oriented resources support completion of a variety of assignments, including midwifery-practice documents (practice guidelines, informed consent/waiver documents, client handouts), essays, and media-based projects.
